Since 2014, Dallas Maids has proudly partnered with Cleaning for a Reason, a nonprofit that offers free house cleanings to individuals undergoing cancer treatment. Now, 11 years later, we’re thrilled to deepen our commitment by becoming official Advocate Sponsors of the organization.

For over a decade, our team has donated time, energy, and compassion to help lighten the load for families during their toughest battles. This partnership has always been close to our hearts, and stepping up our support was a natural next step.

“The real reward has always been seeing the relief on a cancer patient’s face when they walk into a clean home,” says Greg Shepard, founder of Dallas Maids. “Cleaning for a Reason gives us the opportunity to do what we do best – help people – when they need it most. Becoming an Advocate Sponsor was a no-brainer for us.”

On this rainy day we ordered our shirts from Cleaning for a Reason! We ordered our shirts for October Bringing Cancer awareness today.

We are beyond elated to have partnered with #cleaning4areason and to be able to provide free cleanings to warriors.

If you haven’t heard about it before, Cleaning for a Reason is an amazing initiative. It provides free home cleaning services to patients battling cancer. Cleaning for a Reason has been helping cancer patients since 2006.

They have partnered with many cleaning companies for help, including Dallas Maids. We’ve been part of this initiative since 2014.

We’re grateful and honored to give back to our community in the Dallas area. Especially for patients going through such difficult times for the past 5 years, and hopefully for many more years to come!

A clean home is so important, especially when you have a serious illness. You need to minimize any risk of bacteria, mold or any other microbe growing on your surfaces.

Besides, a clean home is also important for mental health. Research has shown the impact of a clean home in mental health.

When you are going through a hard time, the last thing you want to think about is having a messy home. You just don’t have the time or the energy to take care of these things.

Not only is this an opportunity to help those in emotional and financial distress. It also gives the possibility to bring cancer awareness. We want our customers to stay healthy and happy.

Dallas Maids, now a proud partner of Cleaning For A Reason

It comes naturally for us to have the chance to further serve the welfare of the community through Cleaning for a Reason, especially considering Dallas Maids’ mission of maximizing the well-being of customers and employees.

We are blessed to serve our community. We graciously thank Cleaning For A Reason for giving us the privilege to give back.

Here’s a little bit more about this initiative and how it came down to where it is right now.

More about Cleaning For A Reason

Cleaning for a Reason was the brainchild of President and Founder, Debbie Sardone, owner of Buckets & Bows Maid Service, Lewisville, TX. Debbie took a phone call from a prospective client several years ago. After providing the woman a price quote, the prospect paused before saying, “I won’t be able to afford that now; I’m undergoing cancer treatment” and hung up. Debbie didn’t get the woman’s phone number and was unable to call back to make arrangements. In that instant, Debbie decided that her business would never turn down any woman undergoing cancer treatment. In fact, they would be given free housecleaning service.

Calling her staff, Debbie announced the new policy, which the company has used over and over, through the years. In 2005, Debbie shared her story with other maid services at a national cleaning industry convention. She shared her conviction that it was these women, undergoing the physical, emotional; and financial rigors of cancer treatment, who needed professional housecleaning services the most. An onslaught of cleaning business owners began expressing their interest and support.

When she returned to Texas, Debbie registered Cleaning For A Reason as a 501(c) 3 non-profit corporation. With word of this at the next convention, maid services began signing up to donate their services on the spot. Since that time, in 2006, Cleaning For A Reason has helped women with cancer receive the gift of over $3.7 million dollars worth of free house cleaning. This has happened thanks to the help from approximately 1,000 maid service partners.

Giving Back Is Important to Dallas Maids

At Dallas Maids, we believe in giving back to our community and especially, to our people.

During COVID, we assisted first responders with our Fatigue Relief Fund with free housecleaning with the help of our amazing customers.

We’ve also donated to the Russ Martin Listeners Foundation, which helps supports the families of Dallas / Fort Worth firefighters and police officers.

Most importantly, our employees. Dallas Maids employees and their families who are attending a four-year university are eligible for a scholarship through the ISSA Foundation.
