I gladly accept his nomination with twin buckets in front of the Twin Towers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">ALS, or Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, is a disease that affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord. These nerves control the muscles that we use to move, speak, eat, and breathe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If someone has ALS, their nerves die gradually. Their muscles will get weaker and weaker and they won&#8217;t be able to control them with precision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Over time, people with ALS find it harder to do everyday activities. According to the ALS Association, &#8220;ALS robs people of the ability to walk, talk and eventually breathe.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Right now, there is no cure for ALS, and it eventually leads to paralysis. This takes a tremendous toll on people&#8217;s physical and mental health and those around them suffer as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We all know about the ALS ice bucket challenge. It went viral and its positive outcome is fantastic. It has spread awareness and encourages people to donate.
